Formally known as The Jess Hall Band, the four piece hailing from Swindon are made up of childhood friends Jess Hall on vocals, Andy Vincent (bass), Stef Pysanczyn (Drums) and Alex Stone, (guitar and vocals).

Last year, their song ‘Play Shy’ under ‘The Jess Hall Band’ received acclaim from the likes of Fearne Cotton and was featured on Radio1’s Introducing Playlist.
A year and a half on, the band decided on the name ‘Colour The Atlas’ and have recently been signed. Their debut EP is due out on 28th October on Ugly Truth Records and is available to pre-order on their website here.

Last night, in a packed out Shepherds Bush Empire, I watched in wonder as the band took the stage, currently playing support to Newton Faulkner.

Notably influenced by the likes of Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, the band display song writing and musical ability way beyond their years. The playful vocal interplay between both Jess and Alex is simply meant to be. Teamed with a delightful combination of instruments, they are without a doubt, one of the most exciting and upcoming folk bands.

Without further ado, here's their free download - 'Shockwaves'. Enjoy! x
