'My Jubilee weekend at home' - Elsie aka Laura Critchley.

Playing support to Ian Prowse and pop/rock group 'Amsterdam', this homecoming gig was certainly one to look forward to and was certainly, not one to disappoint.

Both hailing from Ellesmere Port, this weekend saw the two artists return home to a filled civic hall, full of family and friends and live music enthusiasts, much like myself.

The support act kicked off, in form of local band Acrylic Street, winners of The Olde Red Lion, Battle Of The Band competition. Shortly afterwards, Elsie appeared, looking ready to rock, in her famous yellow suit and teetering high heels. Gracing the floor, meeting with familiar faces, Elsie looked in her element.

Stepping onto the stage, with a full band, sipping Carlsberg in true Liverpoodlian style, it's great to see she's not one to forget her roots...

Accompanied by an all male band, Elsie kicked things off with '15 Minutes'. Shortly followed by her anthemic single, 'Time To Go'. Looking around to a crowded hall, locals singing along, smiles were blazen as this talented artist showed off her endless vocal abilities and magnificent stage presence to a more than welcoming audience.

A truly captivating artist, enthralling an audience with her husky vocals and great personality to match, a breathe of fresh air to the music industry.

Next up, 'Backstabber', a song for all the ladies out there... 'Hey two faced lady why you so unhappy, I think it's crazy how you love and hate me'. A forceful yet fun number to get the crowd moving. So far, this set was a showcase of Elsie's original material, however the following song came from Elsie's notable influence, Blondie.

Elsie's rendition of the timely classic explored her strong hearty vocals, sure to put a smile on anybody's face and certainly had the audience singing along. Looking completely at ease, moving about the stage to the rhythmic sounds of the band, Elsie takes a second to compose herself as she looks around, all eyes fixed on her exceptional talent and warmth, here in her hometown.

Back to her own material, Elsie launches into the catchy number, 'Dangerous Dog' followed by her new release, 'London Town'. Lyrically a somewhat genius song, telling the tale of a move to London, the place that she heard calling. With her release of an interactive video for this single, there is an energetic and fun feel surrounding the song, a sassy sound that can be heard in many Topshop stores around the country.

However, it was Elsie's sensational cover of Stereophonics hit number, 'Dakota' that left me wanting more. A contrast to her usual playful manner, this performance saw Elsie stood still, with no time for vocoders, autotune or processed beats, Elsie really transforms this classic track with her unique style.

The final song came in form of 'Get What I Want', the perfect ending to a fantastic night of live music.
There really is no one more deserving of big things for 2012, I strongly urge you all to get to your nearest Elsie gig!

Thanks to Elsie for making it a great night and to all that came to support.
