# 13 JOE BANFI

As you all know, I love nothing more than going to a gig and these past few months, I’ve averaged about three a week. There’s no better feeling than attending an intimate gig, a talented artist you’ve not heard before. Leaving that gig with an EP and a love of live music. A new singer songwriter gracing the stage, this time, by the name of Joe Banfi.

Having sent his demos to Communion, Joe found himself included in their New Faces compilation album earlier this year. Inspiring and no doubt exciting the Communion folk, Banfi recorded his EP with Ian Grimble in a studio in North London.

Hailing from Northwhich, Joe has been making music for a staggering 14 years. With his tender, emotive vocals in striking contrast to the dark string arrangment of his guitar, Banfi creates a beautifully haunting sound.

Banfi combines his trademark acoustic style reminiscent of Ben Howard, with heavier influences making for a compelling listen. His four song EP, ‘Iron’ is available for purchase now, showing signs of a promising career for the young singer.

Having already played support to Matt Corby and Marcus Foster, 2013 seems set to be quite a year for Banfi. With a second EP to follow shortly, there’s no doubt Banfi will be embarking on a solo tour very soon before heading into the festival season.

Following in the footsteps of his Communion pals, will it be a year of Austin to Boston and SXSW for Banfi? We will have to wait and see, however, I have my suspicions!
