If I could chose perfection, it’d probably
be pretty close to that of Matt Corby. Not your average talent show runner up,
more like a charming cross of Bon Iver and Jeff Buckley.
Australian native, Matt Corby not only has
the good looks but his independently released debut EP in 2009 expressed
glimmers of a very bright future. Relocating to London, Corby signed with the
grand folk at Communion Records.
Displaying a maturity way beyond his years,
he is known for enthralling large audiences from the opening note. In 2010,
Corby released his hauntingly beautiful EP, Transition To Colour, recorded with
Ian Grimble (The Libertines & Seasick Steve).
A year on, Corby showcased his delightful
vocal tendencies at SXSW in Austin, Texas, before heading back to Australia to
play his famous ‘Secret Garden’ shows. An intimate series of shows held in
fans’ backyards, something he continues to do!
Add to that a support slot with Elbow and
another EP release, Into The Flame, Corby displayed a fresh injection of
soulful vocals and bluesy melodies. Raw and honest, both musically and
lyrically, his unique style of tender folk is sure to take the listener on a
heartfelt journey.
Lead track, ‘Brother’ has received early
support from the likes of Fearne Cotton and is a true indicator of the bright
future the young artist has ahead of him. He will definitely be gracing the
stages near you throughout the Summer season and you’d be a fool to miss out!
