Fleet Foxes - Montezuma

#2 on the Christmas playlist is the delightful Fleet Foxes.

I know I usually deliver new sounds but this is a variable mix of old and new. Songs I forgot existed, songs that didn't get the love they so rightly deserve.

Hailing from Seattle, the indie folk band are signed to Bella Union record label. Montezuma is the opening track from their critically acclaimed second studio album, Helplessness Blues, released back in Summer of last year.

Their signature, ethereal harmonies throughout create an intricate record, simplistic and honest. The choral sounds in perfect accord to the minimal percussion and melding of guitar. It makes for a reflective opener, with pensive Pecknold questioning, "So now I am older/Than my mother and father/, When they had their daughter/Now what does that say about me".

A sublime track from a delightful second album. Let's hope for more in 2013.
