Day 206 of 365
Today has been a bloody brilliant day if I may say so.
So not only was it sunny, I donned my sunglasses, was able to go outside of the house in a short sleeves tee and I had a chocolate ice cream. I also went for a drink in the sunshine and bumped into some friends.
However, this morning was pretty frantic. For anyone here in the UK you may be familiar with BBC Radio1's Hackney Weekend. For anyone who feels a little confused, let me explain to you.
As 2012 is a pretty special year for us English folk, what with the Olympics and all that, Radio 1 are putting on an enormous party, infact not only that. They're putting on the UK's biggest free music event.
With live music across six stages including the likes of Rihanna, Jay Z, Michael Kiwanuka, Jessie J, Ben Howard, Chase & Status, Florence & The Machine, Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran, David Guetta, the list goes on.
So with 100,000 tickets going, I was determined to get one. However, it's not always that easy. With something around 800,000 people applying for tickets, today at 11am, the lines opened. Based on a first come first served basis and with 30% weighted in favour of those living close by. Let's face it, it was going to be like getting hold of a golden ticket from Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory.
i woke up early. The joys of having a split screen computer allowed me to have copious tabs open. With a laptop too, that was 3 computers. Unfortunately after 1 hr and a half of pressing refresh, my fingers and sanity were taking their toll. Just as I was about to give up, the unexpected happened. I got through. I typed my registration number. I typed my email. I was nearly jumping out of my seat and screaming with excitement. That's 'til 'Error message' flashed up on my screen.
I wanted to die. Right there and then.
Well, not really. I am not that shallow minded. It's only a pair of tickets but you know, figure of speech.
Anyway, you'll be pleased to know. The reason for this blog post is simply to vent my excitement to someone other than my housemates.
Did I get tickets, I know that's the question on everyones lips.
HELL YEAH I DID.
So, on June 24th I will be off, in the middle of London, in Hackney Marsh along with 99,998 other people, no doubt dancing like an idiot in the British mud to the following:
Rihanna, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Chase & Status, Plan B, David Guetta, Professor Green, Labrinth, Wretch 32, Lana Del Rey, Ben Howard, Bombay Bicycle Club and many, many more.
I hope you're all incredibly jealous!
Anyway, before I go.
Did anyone run a mile today for Sport Relief? I didn't. It pains me to say it. So much so infact, I made my own Sport Relief mile and ran as fast as I possibly could, imagining myself surrounded by thousands doing the same. My housemate and I ran our mile in just under 8 minutes. Boy, what a glorious day today was. Even at 9pm whilst running.
As a result, tonight I had my very first ice bath.
At first, it was hellish, my feet instantly became numb. Infact, I had to hoist myself out I was shivering so much. I did however, get straight back in. This time, my body seemed to have climatized some what to the sudden change in temperature and I actually really enjoyed it. It left me feeling incredibly relaxed and fresh. You should try it someday. Preferably after a longer run. It doesn't tend to have the same desired effect after a mere 1 miler.
In the meantime, I figure this is going on and on and on.
So I better leave it there.
Night
