Day 210 of 365

Thursday 29th March

Well that was fun.
Having stayed up all night, (bar a quick 40 minute power nap at 5am this morning) not eaten anything since dinner and still having work to finish, I felt like going into uni like a hole in the head.

I did however, drag myself up and into Uni, into the library. I found myself staring at the ever familiar computer screen, staring out into the street, sun blaring but yet I can't enjoy it just yet.
However, come tomorrow and I'll be all done, on my way home. I cannot bloody wait.
Before that though there comes one hurdle. To present.
Dreaded interim crits.
They're the worst.
Basically, you have to stand there, with the work you're supposed to be eternally happy of. Proud, showcasing the best of your ability. You'd stand there with word vomit, explaining your project, the tutors would smile, say it's perfect and move on. You'd go for Easter, relax for a week or so, take some time off and feel relaxed.
In the reality, it is completely different. Infact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a crit like the above take place. In dreams maybe, but never, ever in our studio.

Infact, mine today could not have been any further from the above. After waiting for hours to present my work I shyly pinned up in the corner. The work I had was lacking something. I am a perfectionist and it's the worst feeling ever knowing that you're not 100% proud of what you pin up. You run questions through your head and just know that the tutors are going to bring up anything and everything to criticise your ideas.

Anyway... that said, I did however gain a lot of feedback and in the long-run it left me feeling more confident and urged me to go on holiday and come back with something, maybe with a stroke of genuis. I can wish.

So tomorrow I am off home. Tonight we're having a BBQ. One problem.
We don't have a BBQ. Or any BBQ food. Or a garden.
The sun is hiding by the minute and shortly, I expect there to be around 10 hungry men sat on our doorstep. Wondering where there food is.
Not to mention whilst sat outside, we are surrounded by BBQ's. Oh the smell.
False advertising for the poor folk who excitedly jump out of their car and joyfully wander towards our house, smelling that oh so delightful charred smell. Only to find we infact do not have anything to offer,
Other than, a few floor cushions, a ukulele, some cider and of course, good company.

Who could refuse huh?
Anyway, I better be off as everyone's about to come round.
As promised: I have made you my very own playlist.
I urge you to listen to every one of these songs.
They're fantastic.
I will restrict it to 20 as honestly, I could go on and on, all day.
Enjoy.
