Day 73 of 365
Saturday 12/11/11
Ah today has been a long day, how are you all? It's Saturday here in Germany and it's bloody cold.
We had to be up for about 6am this morning, down for breakfast and have everything packed up ready to go. I have had such a good week but I wish right now we were flying back, the thought of a very long coach followed by an overnight ferry doesn't seem too appealing right now.
So anyway, before we get to the ferry we have a full day to spare. After several hours of travelling we arrived in Frankfurt. At first glance I thought, what an industrial city, I wasn't quite sure I was overly keen. I prefer more traditional cities with touches of modernism as opposed to the other way round. That was until we found MyZeil. A shopping mall in the city centre designed by Roman architect Massimiliano Fukas. MyZeil has six floors and apparently, the longest escalator in Germany at 46m! Yeah, wow.
We had a wee look round, got shouted at by security for having a big camera, laughed at the people queuing for hollister (the clothes shop) and of course got some German sausage, being in Frankfurt an' all.
Pity I felt so ill... I opted for just chips. Damn. I didn't even have a hangover, maybe travel sickness but wow, we still had about 6 hours left of our journey.
Passing the time with films and apps on the iPhone made time seem a little faster however pretty much everyone was feeling the weary eyed tiredness by the time we arrived on the ferry. On the way out here we all had a nice out on the ferry, today it was Saturday night - the busiest night on the ferry and where were we? Having a nice civilised meal followed by a round of cards and then bed.
What a week it's been but finally, I am lying in a tiny bed swaying somewhere in the ocean, I am nearly home, I can't wait.
Speak tomorrow.
Love
x
