Day 212 of 365

Saturday 31st March

Yayy the day has finally come.
We're off on a road trip.
Well, that's what the plan was.
Unfortunately my Grandad, who lives with me took ill last night meaning we're yet to leave the house with a 7 hour trip ahead of us.
Obviously we're waiting until the doc arrives.
It's horrible. Seeing him so weak breaks my heart. However, something happened today that I will cherish for the rest of my life. You know one of those moments, you snapshot it in your memory.
For years to come, I hope I remember it and smile.

My Grandad is my world. He's the cream to my cracker.
Today, he lay in bed, with a chest infection, unable to move from his bed, he lay so still, so weak. It broke my heart but... I went into his room, lay beside him and Mum and I decided to provide some entertainment to lighten the mood.

I reached for my laptop, pressed play and what happened next, I will continue to cherish.
Sir Tom Jones. I salute you.
Lay in bed, the three of us sang. My Grandad sang, he smiled, we laughed, nothing else mattered.
That moment. Nothing else. It was just us. It was brilliant.

Since then, unfortunately it's a waiting game waiting for the doctors and nurses to come.
By now, it's pretty unlikely we will arrive in Cornwall in the daylight however, whatever time, it couldn't come quick enough. We all need a break.

I hope your Saturday is a bit better than mine.
Hopefully it will all work out and I'll be in Cornwall in no time but 'til then I better be off.
We have a few errands to run before we set off, most importantly getting snacks for the marathon car journey.

Anyway, in the meantime, I shall leave you with some photos I took the last time I was in Cornwall, the days before I saw sense and got a blog ;)
