Day 12 of 365
Okay I have finally plucked up the courage to begin writing another blog. I was left completely devastated by the loss. It has been tough coming to terms with the thought of rewriting the whole thing and I know I will never remember anything I said but here goes.
Sure, all eyes will be on the bride but I feel the groom should still set himself apart from the many men that will be there in similar suits. Although traditionally the groom and his ushers are to wear similar outfits I feel the need, as the groom to stand out. It’s important to help the guests identify you as half of the special couple right? I’ve seen only too often the awkward moment a guest who’s yet to meet the groom is faced with 6 guys to chose from, which one could it be, often I question who the groom is and I should know, I’m working on his wedding, poor guy needs to stand out. He should be made to feel as special as the bride, all eyes on them both I say. Plus, takes the pressure of the bride a little don’t you think, even though I’m sure all the brides relish is this being the only day all eyes are on you and you can take great pride in that.
Oh yeah, ps. Thought I’d share with you all, “I got them moves like jagger”.
Just kidding, it’s the song playing at the moment and kinda like the lyrics, they’re funny. So, here goes, part 2 of my wedding-esque blog. I will attempt my hand at some wedding advice but really, I don’t know a lot so don’t hold me to it.
So, where to start? Well, I have talked about the Bride already and what I think they should wear on the day so I guess it’s only deemed fit I should mention the arguabally, equally important person of the day! Just kidding, again. Of course the Groom is special. Each and everyone of you, you guys (cue cute voice).

So I hear you ask, what do I propose. Well, don’t get me started. Wearing a subtly different jacket from those of your ushers is sure to make your mark, khaki perhaps? If your tux has a satin lapel, the boys’ could be plain. You get my drift? Do what you will to make yourself stand out. Of course I have my ideals. Here’s just a few different options.
Famously, the wedding of Jamie Hince and Kate Moss was a vintage ensemble and I especially loved the colour set and of course the Grooms attire. Hince opted for a double-breasted Yves Saint Laurent suit and didn’t he look good. Another sun dappled celebrity matrimony; Mark Ronson. Possibly my favourite groom attire of all time. Not to be outdone, Mark wore a rather dapper red and white striped three-piece candy stripe suit.
Another option in my view is to wear a different coloured tie or bow to the others. It also adds an element of fun into the photography’s don’t you think?
Following on from this is my love and appreciation towards mis-matched bridesmaids. Of course I don’t mean a splash of rainbow admist the guests, I simply mean an unique look. Enough of those nasty cheap and cheerful so called bridesmaid dresses you see amongst the high street shops. Another of my pet hates. Of course not all of your bridesmaids are going to be the same shape or size so why make them feel uncomfortable in a ill fitted dress that happened to be on offer, of course I know they sometimes look okay but come on. Treat your girlfriends, after all they’ve probably just thrown you an ace hen night right?
My proposal again, take it or leave it. Mismatched bridesmaids. On my day, I guess I’d like all my bridesmaids to keep to some sort of guidelines, a variation of a chosen colour pallete perhaps, with each bridesmaid choosing a dress that suits them, after all, life would be boring if we were all the same. Here are a few of my favourites.
Moving onto another of my pet hates, those bloody bridal shoes. Apologies I do not mean to offend but come on, seriously. You’re gonna spend so much choosing the right dress, just ‘cos they’re not going to be visible all of the time, take some pride, please? I don’t know about you but I find there’s a story to be told amongst every pair of shoes, it’s one of the first things I notice in the opposite sex, you can tell a lot about a book by its cover.
Of couse, if we had the money I know what I’d be chosing. I’ve seen a couple of brides in Louboutins and they’re never ashamed to fling them off and leave them side of the dancefloor for one and all to wallow in self-pity at the sight. You’re the girl who has it all that day and why not. It’s your time to shine.
So it’s getting pretty late and I figure this is a pretty long post already. There’s just one last thing I want to mention and that’s décor. I came across some beautiful examples of colour sets tailored to the B&G’s unique style. I just couldn’t help but share. I guess it depends on your venue to an extent however you can always add little favours and tit bits that reflect your interests. I saw one wedding, I’ll always remember it. The groom was a pilot and at every guests seat for the wedding breakfast there was a card with their name and the menu on, it was no ordinary card design, they were all boarding passes. With everyone it had the date of the wedding and all the details, I could just imagine coming away and framing it, it was too good to throw away. I’ve seen a lot of great things and it just goes to show the dedication that goes into creating the most perfect day.
Have a look… see what you think, I especially love the long table with everyone seated, looks like you’d never want to leave that night. Idyllic.
Anyway, as I said it’s getting late and I should really let you go, goodnight ya’ll. Excuse the use of American slang, I like it, let me off?
