Day 6 of 365
Wow day 6 of daily blogging, that's gone pretty quick! So today I got called into help with some extra bits at work, not my usual job - a sort of casual staff scheme. Todays job was possibly the single most boring task ever set to mankind. I won't bore you with details, maybe tomorrow.
Other than that today I have mainly been sorting through uni work and entering a competition. A photography competition... So I guess this is the right time to plug my photography?
Would appreciate the views :)
So enough of my rambling on, I have a point to this blog entry. To educate all my readers, (hello, anyone out there!) well if there is, I want to let you in on a little secret. You know by now I love music. I like to let you in on what I'm listening to so today is a new day and it's the day I tell you about a lovely lady who goes by the name of 'Elsie'.
I went to a gig many years ago, 2007 to be exact, the support act was a girl called Laura. Funny story actually, me and my friend were sitting front row, best seats in the house some may say, directly in the middle and within touching distance to the act.
So the support act comes on and we sit chatting, that's 'til we hear this girls voice. I'm from a small little place in the UK called the Wirral. It's a sort of unheard little land of beauty, some people call us 'posh scousers' others just relate to us as scousers, either way it's pretty near Liverpool. A scouse accent as you know is pretty hard to miss.
Anyway, there is a point to this background info. The girl opens her mouth and says hello, from that point our eyes and ears were fixed. As she sang I watched intently. What a voice, and of course, she was a local lass. We went to go meet her at the end of the gig, we got some promotional flyers and got them signed. So I know you're all thinking what's funny about this story. Now I come to think of it, it's not actually funny in the slightest. Just she had a short skirt on and tripped slightly on the mic wire when she walked around the stage. No one saw, that was except us having the best seats in the house.
When we met Laura she recognised us and was quick to ask, 'Could you guys see up my skirt'. Well Laura, if you're reading this, I was a polite sixteen year old at the time and reassured you not. It was nothing like you see in those trashy mags, exposed as someone clambers out of the car but I guess I should have just laughed.
Anyway, enough of the non-funny jokes. It's now time to get you itching to see Laura aka Elsie in all her glory - well maybe not like the above, merely learn more about her.
OK, here goes my crap review - apologies I'm not a music reviewer! Think hearty, throaty vocal, unique style and sound and a gorgeous girl who represents all us women out there. Her voice has really matured and strengthened since I last saw her perform and after a little bit of googling I see she once appeared as Jessica Simpson on Stars in Their Eyes, that's enough to make you want to follow her right?
When I saw Laura perform she had just released her debut album, 'Sometimes I'. The sound was mellow and emotional, there was no doubt Laura had incredible talent and I soon began following her on that well known social networking site!

Four years later and I find myself checking up on Laura, a new venture going by the name of 'Elsie'. Clearly advancing in her career Elsie's catchy riffs and bass lines are catching on at several festivals over this summer, unfortunately for me, few close to home. Like all us women love to do, Elsie shares her thoughts about broken hearts, wild nights and bad men through her wonderfully unique vocals.
Have I sold it to you yet? Hopefully, if not check this out. Do me a favour 'cos I know you'll all enjoy it.
Goodnight. x
and a wonderful little cover for you all, my special treat.
