Day 160 of 365
Tuesday 7/2/12
Good afternoon.
How are you all?
I was amazed when I woke up this morning, my hits went from under 5,000 to 5,200 overnight.
Love you guys.
Pat on the back, all round.
So, today.
It's bloody cold.
I have been to town, had the task of finding a dress for tonight in half an hour.
After dashing to Topshop I managed to find a super cute top, ironically, with a daisy on it.
Maybe that's the sole reason I bought it.
Unfortunately, nearing closer to the time I was supposed to be in Uni, I still had no dress. I thought I'd head straight for the bigger Topshop at the bottom of town.
To my horror, it was gone. In a matter of days. Stripped down to a shell.
I screamed a little inside and hurridly set about trying to pick one up from somewhere else.
You'll be pleased to know, I found one.
So tonight we're off to Liverpool. Land of the scousers. We're off for a night out, I am bringing the uni girls up and we'll be invading my parents house. Eeek.
Bless my Mum, she's been ringing all day to check what we want for supper/reminding me to bring sleeping bags and the best bit, she's kicked my brother out. No, not really, he's just been demoted to the room downstairs. Ha.
Anyway, today I stumbled across something I can only describe as a.maz.ing
3 bands. 6 cities, 1 train and a thousand of miles of track... BIG EASY EXPRESS captures an incredible musical journey.
And it just so happens, these 3 bands, they're only some of my favs.
The sublime Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Londons favourite, Mumford & Sons, they got together with Nashville boys Old Cow Medicine Show and here it is.
Harkening back to the days of jubilant railroad revivals, of steam and steel, three bands set out in April 2011 to tour America by vintage train. L.A.’s Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Nashville boys Old Crow Medicine Show, and Londoners Mumford & Sons climbed aboard amid the massive rail yards of Oakland and set out for New Orleans on a “tour of dreams.” Stopping along the way to play sold-out shows in spots as diverse as San Pedro, California, and Marfa, Texas, BIG EASY EXPRESS documents the bands’ vibrant railway adventures; the high canyons, joyous crowds, blasted skies, late-night laughter, endless music…and a train that was bound for glory.
The best combination of acts ever, possibly.
However, I want to share something else with you.
I was sent to this video by a well known singer, none other than Ellie Goulding.
I decided to check it out and I loved it.
Today, I heard it have its first radio play here in the UK.
So I thought for todays song I would share it.
I urge you to watch the video, be warned though it's rather touching and heartfelt.
Tissues at the ready, fingers steady.
Let's roll.
Clock Opera - Once And For All
Enjoy
I am about to set out on our road trip, I may freeze to death as we are expecting minus ten or so tonight in Liverpool.
For all those tucked up to night, spare a thought for me, walking the streets of Liverpool in just a skimpy dress, with my alcohol jacket in tow I am sure.
Peace
x
