Day 115 of 365
Saturday 24/12/11
It's Christmas Eve.
My favourite time of the year is ever so fast approaching and I can barely contain my excitement.
When we were little kids, we had sort of a tradition that every year, our closest family friends would come round to our house and have nibbles and exchange gifts.
This was broken when we decided to go to Canada for Christmas, we've been twice now. I must add those two Christmas' have been my all time favourites. It's magical to wake up and see snow, even more special when you get to ski in 10ft deep powder. Fully formed snowflakes falling on your clothes, icicles forming up your nose, elk pacing the streets... There is nothing more I could dream for.
However, the downside is of course, the friends we usually spend Christmas with, unfortunately could not fit in our suitcases!
Two years ago, we had them around for Christmas dinner, it was super. Last year, we were invited there. This year, as I have mentioned previously, we have our family around.
Therefore, today we're trying something new - we are going for lunch. We're going to exchange gifts over dinner and then go our separate ways. As us children grow older, it seems the pub is more inviting than being with your family the night before Christmas, being four of us, it's hard to keep everyone happy!
I for one, a traditional lady at heart. I love nothing more than getting into my pyjamas and watching Christmas movies on Christmas eve with the family.
So after a lovely meal and exchanging of gifts, we headed home and began our own Christmas eve traditions.
Every year we're allowed just one present on this night.
It is always the same gift, for as long as I can remember.
Brand spanking new pyjamas.
There is nothing nicer than going to sleep in clean sheets and new pyjamas!
Next up, I headed to bed, my favourite Christmas film in tow.
Miracle of 24th Street.
I felt five years old again.
Laying out my stocking at the end of the bed.
And I loved it.
I better catch some sleep.
I hope you have all had a lovely day.
Santa Claus is coming to town.
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...
PS. Join me and track Santa...
